I choose this acticle because many of my friends text 24/7.I think the author was concered that kids spend too much time texting and less time on school work, home work, sports, and famile. Its a distraction from school work, interrupted sleep, also it causes thumb injuries.I am in charge of texting because I dont text like other teens or per teens. I think that a important detail is that kids 13 through 17 send and receive an average of 2,272 text a month.I feel this is important because kids should fouces on school work more than they text ,but im not saying not to text but keep it at a level.
ReplyDeletei agree with tajh because my cousin sthepanie is always texting . she texts during a movie ,during dinner and so on and so forth.and i also agree that students should focuse more on education than on cell phones and texting.
ReplyDeleteI agree because if you text to much you can have thumb injuries and kids should worry more on school work
ReplyDeleteI choosed this artical beacuse i know people that txt all the time. The concerns that i think the author might have about txting is that it getting in the way of kids ecducation and there daily life. Also it a big distraction to students and their h.w and txting couses thumd injuries. The benefits of txting is that it is a great way to get in touch with friends or just family members.Im in charge of txting. One important dealital i found in this artical is that it cause thum injuries. I think this dealtil is important beacause thumb injuries are bad.
ReplyDeleteI chose this article because i believe that kids 13 between 17 are texting to much because my cousin texts all the time and i asked my cousin all the questions onm the article and his answers were yes 4 out of 5 of the questions.
ReplyDeletei agree that texting is bad for you because people get injuries and don't pay attention to other people.Even in school kids have texts another student answers on a test.
ReplyDeleteI choose this article because i text alot and im worry about me and others.I think some concerns the author has about texting is that it can cause thumb injuries, interruption sleep, and school distraction. The benefits of texting is so you can be in touch with friends and familys.I took the test and im in charge of texting. One inportant detail that kids should know is texting can be lead to host of problems.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Tajh, students and adults need to control their texting, keep it to a minimum level. Melissa I appreciate you making a text to self connection and sharing your concerns with us about your texting habits. After reading all of your responses, I am curious ... Do you think if students were allowed to have cell phones at Hyde that they would send text messages throughout the school day to other Hyde students? Or maybe their friends at other schools? If you haven't posted your response, you can include your answer to this question as well. If you've already posted your 3 responses, a response to this question will be extra credit :o)
ReplyDeleteAfter reading this artice I do wonder about whether I am addicted to texting. I chose this article because I wanted to know the answer to the question in the title. I think the authors concerns about texting are that young people may be doing texting excessively and he is worried about the long term effects. The benefits of texting to me are its a good way to communicate with everybody rather than calling people each second. Whats also good about it is you can talk to more than one person at a time. After taking the quiz I only can put yes for 2 of those considering my predicament in school and at home. So I am in charge of texting. A detail that I found interesting was that"...kids age 13 to 17 sent and recieved an average of 2,272 texts per month.." I think this is important for the middle school students to know because even if we weren't included in that survey that data would probably be even worse for us which tells us we need to know when to stop texting. So I think we as a school, not just middle school, need to check our selves on when its time to take a rest and that includes aim to.
ReplyDeletei agree with LeRonn because when most of my cousins took the quiz more then half of there answers were yes and i think that, that is a bad thing.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Yamela in her comment when she put it distracts kids doing homework because I notice that I get distracted when Im doing my homework sometimes to answer a text or aim message. Another important detail I found from that article was when Kate Morrissey said "I text at home, in the car when I'm going somewhere..." The same goes for me so I can relate to her. This is important because it shows that a lot of people have the same problem.
ReplyDeleteI chose this article because I have a issue with texting alot and I can relate to some of the things that were being said. The author was concerned that we do it to much.Sometimes we do it rudly without knowing. Also that it takes up our time. The benifit is that it brings a closer bond between kids and their friends(it keeps them together outside of school).I am in charge of texting because I know how to stop when I need to and I have control.A important detail is if you text during class you might miss something and fail a quiz or test if a teacher gives one. It's important because your not focus and it causes you to slack off.
ReplyDeleteI chose this article because I know ppl who text in my family. I think the concerns that the author has is for the ppl. Maybe he knows someone who texts alot with ppl, and hes concerned about them & other ppl. You can lose interest in your academics and lose interest in sports and physical activities. A thing the author also said was that kids can also stay connected with other ppl. Like family members in another place in america. And parents can instead of calling sending a message. Saving time in your daily work
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jasmine when she say's she wonders if she is addicting to texting because ii wonder sometimes about it because I text to much and it has me thinking no that i read the article am I addicted like the other kids in the article
ReplyDeleteI Choose this article because I like texting and most of the time thats what i do .Some concerns I think the author might have about texting is that it causes many problems for example thumb injuries, interupted sleep , and distraction at school. Even Though it cause some problems there are some benefits ,for example it keeps you in touch with family and friend who live to far away.In my case I am in charge of texting. One fact i found interesting is that kids age 13-15 sent or recieved about 2,272 text per month in 2008.
ReplyDeleteI agree with jasmine because i do think that kids should be in charge of there texting and they should no when its time to stop
ReplyDeleteThe reason why I chosse this article is because I can relate to Molly who sleeps with her cell phone beside her bed.But also I was texting at the tyme while I was reading this article isn't that ironic!
ReplyDelete-Peace yall happy New Year
luv Marsden
I agree with LeRonn because Im one of those plpe who text everywhere and i mean everywhere! But its a habit for me and i cant stop.Just yesterday i ask my dad if he can show me the bill on my texting and it was around 7000 but its okey though because we unlimted.
ReplyDeleteI chose this article because almost everyone i know even my family text all the time. I agree with tajh that the author was concern for kids. I think that alot of people should stop texting because it would mess up how you write and your vocabulary.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jasmine about students should check themselfs. Also, i think that parents should watch thier kids
ReplyDeleteI also agree with that i know when to stop texting and get off because i know it affects me and my academics
ReplyDeletei agree with ms.moulogney becausae parents should stop there child from texting. for example when they see a sighn of pain in the fingers or when they see a big change in the phone bill after you gave them text
ReplyDeleteI choose this article because I know friends that text alot.I think the concerns the author might have about texting is that it is becoming an addiction. This also get away from their learning and distractions in school. The benefits of texting are that it's a faster way of getting in touch with people.Instead of calling you could text which is faster.I'm in charge of texing. An important detail I found was that kids ages 13-17 sent and received texts per month in the last quarter of 2008.Every middle school student should know this because we need to stop texting. This is important because is getting addicting.
ReplyDeletei agree with Carlos that most of my family Texts and they dont stop even when they talking to someone. But is mostly the younger people in my fammily.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Tony that Texting could get time away from your academics, sports and physical activities.Forexample you could become lazy and you wont want to excerise anymore.Texting could cause bad health problems.
ReplyDeletei agree with nicole beacuse i do think txting is becoming an addiction not with me but with majority of my friends.
ReplyDeleteI reread the article and these are my thoughts. I chose this article because I feel it is true that kids ages 13 - 17 text 2 much. They any chance they can. It could be while they are in class, at home, in a car,and even walking in the street. The authors concerns are that kids are attached to there cell phones. if txting in class this causes kids to get bad grades on tests, to not to pay attention in class. If they are txting at home they probably are not paying attention to their homework or their chores. I feel a benefit of txting is that it helps you with paraphrasing, it helps you with talking to friends if you are in a loud place. After taking the quiz i am in complete control of my txting. that is because i don't take my phone to school and if i did it would be off. My phone is out of my reach when i eat dinner or lunch. When i am sleep my phone may be close but i block all noises when i am sleep at night.
ReplyDeleteIs Txting 2 Much Bad 4 u? Was a very interesting article. After reading the title I already knew this article was going to lead to the most interesting facts about texting which is why I read it. Some concerns the author might have about texting is that too many individuals specifically teenagers are being drawn into texting and technology. This can distract them from the important things in their life. However, texting has some benefits. Texting keeps in contact with others and it makes it easier to communicate. I beleive I am in charge of my texting because I have the power of controling myself. I can stop from letting texting over power me. One important fact that students in middle school should know is that kids ages 13-17 send and recieve an average of 2,272 texts per month in the last quarter of 2008! Students can let texting continue to over power them becuse it can really affect them.
ReplyDeleteI choose to read this topic because i seee a lot of kids and teenagers texting around me every where i go,and i wanted to know more about the dangers in the cell phone world. The Author might think texting can be concerning because too much texting can injure your finger, also it can be very addicting. Some benifits of texting is it can keep kids in touch without talking.I dont really text so im pretty sure im in charge of it.I just want every kid to know that texting has its benifits, but too much texting can get addicting in a very seariuos matter.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Nicole about texting becoming an addiction because every where i go and look i see people texting for example my sister stays up all night texting. We need to do somthing about this problem.
ReplyDeleteI choose this artical because I had a feeling that it was going to talk about over texting and i got curious and wanted to know the average of texting. Some cocerns the auther has is texting is not good for you if you over dose. You injure yourself. Some problems with texting are school work distractions, thumb injuries, and interupted sleep. Some benefits of texting that you will be able to stay in touch with family and friends.I am so in charge of texting. Texting doesn't and will never run my life. Some people text 24/7.I will never be an addict like that.A detail that i found that was important was "U.S kids ages 13 to 17 sent and received an average of 2,272 text per month in the last quater of 2008.That's about 80 messages a day.More than double the average of 2007.This is important because so many teens have became addicted to texting and that can ruin their adcademics.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Carlos, texting also gets you used to writing words misspelled. When you text a lot you get used to writing that way. When some people text they write their words shorter and abbreviate many things. Sometimes i find myself, while doing classwork misspelling words which interferes with my work. Another detail from the article I found interesting is that texting may lead too thumb injuries. How can such an addicting thing cause such a huge problem!?
ReplyDeleteMost of you guys are using text language right now.
ReplyDeleteDitto Kristal! I agree, most of you guys are using "aim talk" blogging.
ReplyDeleteI choose this article to read because i have the same problem with texting too.The concern the author have for texting is that the kids that texts have to slow down on texting because it may lead into big problems. The benefit to texting is to chat with your friends or have fun.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Maggie because i was curious about the texting and how some kids solve their texting problem.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Veronica because i also like to text,so when i do my homework i get detracted with texting.
ReplyDeleteI agree with maggie because there are some schools that allow students to have there phones and there are some schools like mine that do not allow phones. This is a problem we have to fix and sooner or later if we dont stop it then it will become a bigger problem in our adult life for ex texting so much when you type or write you might start talking like how you do on aim.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Lisa, because when it comes to texting during class, it is true that you can end up not focusing in what you are learning.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Maggie because I used to text before. And I did not realize that I was texting too much. Ever since I started texting my thumbs started to hurt and that was when I stopped texting.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Yamela because I also have friend that always text and it’s a problem that they can’t control. Also I sometimes have a problem when I am on aim.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Lerron because most kids’ text so much they stop caring about school. also they forget about friends and having fun, playing sports.
ReplyDeleteThe reason why I choose this article because the age of 13 and 17 years old could get addicting to it. Also that they can't focus in class and other things. Well the authors concern is that people could get addicting to it and also that it could cause a host problem. Another is reason that you may not stop texting to people because they are in to it so much. It causes a distraction to school work and sleep. Well I don't text but my do. Texting take control of him a lot and when he eating.
ReplyDeleteI agree with LeRonn. That when student is in class and they are texting to people they don't know what is the lesson. And also that they could fail test and their grade
ReplyDeleteI agreed with Yamela that texting is a addiction to people. They don't really focus to anything.
ReplyDeleteI choose this article because I love to text my friends alot. And I text to much. And I see alot of teens doing the same. The concerns the author might hav is that maybe he expriene this problem before. And maybe he see alot of students doing the same. The benefits for texting is that you pick someone to talk to. And that is all folks.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Zaraih because i do see alot of teens texting and i really feel cocern thats teens sre taking it to far!
ReplyDeleteI agree with yamela because texting can take your mind off of other things.
ReplyDeletei agree with tajh because students and adults both be texting alot. adults be texting and driving at the same time and that is dangerous.
ReplyDeleteI choose the " is texting to much bad for you " article because i read good information in on aim. That kid should be able to say good nightfrom their technology and need to consider cutting on their texting.
ReplyDelete7th grade you did a good job responding and posting comments about this artice I feel so proud of us and think we should get rewarded for our hard work. I also think that some people used "aim" language in their comments and need to work on that. other than that GREAT JOB !!
ReplyDeleteI chose to read this article because thats the first thing i grab my cell phone. Also because i do alt of texting at home iand i thought that it would be fun to read about texting. Also itext everyday and every were at home while eating after shcool and at night.I think some concern the author might have is that young ones are not getting enough sleep because they have to many text message coming in at night and they are not having enough sleep. The benefits of texting is that you pick some one to talk to.I say that iam in charge of texting but some times it can be in charge of me and some times i dont notice it i can stop but i choose not to.One imprtant fact is that kids ages 13 to 17 send 2,272 msg a day and i did not no that and thtas alot
ReplyDeleteI chooose this article because i kind of text to much and i some get to Distracted When im doing my home work. the concerns that the author has is why do students LOVE texting? What may they might be talking about? Who do they talk to? Pickk some one to talk to and talk to them. Im in charge of texting because im the only one that can stop my self from STOPING! from texting. Some thing tht i think all student shoul know about Is "texting Is Distractin" i think that because that why students are getting bad grades
ReplyDeletei agree w|leslie because when i doing my hw i get so distracted with people texting me.Even though i love texting it gets annoying sometimes!
ReplyDeleteI agree with maggie thattexting to much can hurt you in both phicicly and academic ways.i also agree that it is an addicting thing.
ReplyDeleteI agree w|nicole b/c it becoming an addiction to people and i would admit one of those people is me.But i think we should help the people with this addiction.
ReplyDeletei think that texting is bad for you.i also think that texting is bad for you becouse it makes u spell wrong when you are in school and it gets you all confused with spelling.also it gets you addicted to writting like that
ReplyDeleteI THINK THAT TEXTING IS BAD NOT ONLY FOR TEENAGERS LIKE US BUT ALSO FOR ADULTS.ITHINK THAT AFTER A WHILE OF TEXTING WE BECOME ADDITED TO WRITING IN THAT FORM.THEN WE START WRITING LIKE THAT IN SCHOOL AND THAT DOES NOT HELP US WITH WORK IN SCHOOL.ALSO WE START TO FOCUSE MORE ON TEXTING THEN DOING HOMEWORK FOR SCHOOL OR STUDYING FOR A BIG TEST AND THAT IS A BIG ISSUE BECOUSE OF TEXTING
ReplyDeletei agree with carlos i tink that all parents should be watching their kids to see what is going on.
ReplyDeletei agree with carlos i think that parents should watch their kids to see what is going on.
ReplyDeletei agree with maggie i think that we can destroy our adcademics with texting
ReplyDeletei agree with maggie i think that texting will destroy our academics if we keep on.
ReplyDeletei agree with leslie i think that texting does get in my way when im doing my homework and i need to fix that issue
ReplyDeletei agree with nicole about the sports because i know a friend that quit karatie for not texting but for tv.
ReplyDeletei agree with carlos about my family tewxting. Lots of my cousins stays at home instead of going to a park and running in the summer they stay at home and text friends all day.
ReplyDeleteI chose this article because i know that texting is used a lot throughout the U.S. I know that a lot of people text in New York especially. I think that the author's concern is that texting can become an addiction if you do it frequently. Maybe this author has a son or daughter and she is speaking from experience about texting. I think for other people the benefit from texting is staying in touch with friends or to talk to someone quicker instead of calling them. Texting is not in charge of me because I dont text at all. Although when it comes to IMs I dont really think about stopping because i love to be on the computer. A detail that i found in the text that looked interesting to me was where they mentioned kids texting in class. I think this is important to know about because this is affecting school grades and can result in getting left back.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Carlos that parents should check in with their child to set time blocks for when and when not to text.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Yamela that texting can cause thumb injuries because when I am on the computer for a long time my hand will be stuck in one position from resting my hand on the mouse for too long. I think of it as the same way as texting.
ReplyDeleteI agree with joshua about adults texting too. I see lots of shows on tv and always see an adult in an office texting when possible. I also now uncles and aunts who text alot. Adults need to watch out like teenangers.
ReplyDeleteokay so i chose "is texting 2 bad 4 u" because i really love texting a lot. i think the author is really trying to say texting is a big distraction. its a distraction to our education. For me texting is in charge of me. something the middle school students need to know is that it is a big distraction. the benefits of texting is to stay in touch with friends family members etc.
ReplyDeletei agree with leslie and joshua because i would stop anything that im doing for texting.
ReplyDeletei agree with calisha because as soon as i get home from school i go and the first thing i get is my cellphone.
ReplyDeleteHI MY IS DIMITRA.I CHOOSE THIS ARTICLE BECAUSE I LIKE TO TEXT ALOT.SO IM RELATING THIS ARTICLE TO ME.HOW MANY KIDS A DAY TEXT.I GET TO COMMUNICATE WITH MY FAMILY AND ALL MY FRIENDS I SEE AT SCHOOL.IM IN CHARE OF TEXTING.MOST KIDS ARE GETTING TEXT MESSEGES EACH DAY FROM OTHER KIDS EACH DAY.I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT BECAUSE MOST KIDS MIGHT NOT KNOW WHO THERE TALKING TO
ReplyDelete
