How are the elements/features of a book and movie the same? Think about a time when you read a book and then saw a movie based upon that book. What kinds of things did you think about as you watched the movie? Was the movie exactly the same as the book? Why do you think movie makers change things for a movie? Do you think it’s important for movies to remain identical to the novels on which they are based?
To support your blog posting please use a specific example of a book that you read that was turned into a movie.

How the elements/features of the book and the movie is the same is because in the book they talk about the cheese touch and also in the articleit talks about the cheese touch too. The things I think of when i read a book and then watch the movie is that ,why is the details in the book different in the movie?,the other thing is that is the book lieing or is the movie lieing about what is going on in the book? why the movie maker change the movie from what happened in the book is because they want the movie to be more interesting so that people can enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI think that the elements of the book and te movie are the same because in the book the autor jeff kinney always has the doodle-style illustrations/pictures. The article states that those illustrations are also in the movie.A time I watched a movie based on a novel/book iI was always thinking about "did this happen in the book?".Movie makers change things up because they dont want to dissipoint the viwer and make them wach the same thing they read.
ReplyDeletekayleen disagree with you that author does change the some part in the movie because they do. why is because the author want people to be intersecting to watch
ReplyDeletetekela i totaly agree with you because i also think that the movie makers change up a little of what happend in the book to make it interesting. For example in the book Helen Keller they made it into a movie and they totally change the way Helen's teacher(home educator) and Helen's brother treat each other. They make it funnier, and in the book they dont even talk about it!
ReplyDeleteI think that the featuers are the same becausein the article it states that their are gonna be some drawing from the book. I didnt see the movie, but when i saw the commercials i said to my self its not gonna be as good as the book because the same happened for twiglight the book great books but the movies were ok.I think they changed the movie a bit to make it intersteing to the readers and the movie wachers . I think it wouldnt be fair if the readers if the movie was the same as the books because thir would be no piont in seeing a movie if you know wats gonna happen
ReplyDeleteI agree with ian that the movie makers change the movie from hat happend in the book because they don't want the viewers who already read the book to have to watch the same thing they read. As i said before in Hellen Keller they change up some of the details and make it fictional. They do that to makeit interesting and a little bit more fictional and unique from the book.
ReplyDeleteThe features and elements of a book are the same because if they do not have mostly identical qualities and similarities between them, then no one will know that the two things are related. For example, in the book New Moon (by: Stephanie Meyer),characters Seth and Leah Clearwater are mentioned somewhat, but in the movie they are not mentioned at all.To a twi-fan like me, I found it very suprising that the Director had chosen not to keep this part the same.As I watched the movie though, I also began to see some similarities between the book and the movie and was relitively happy by the way it turned out.The book and the production of the book were not exactly the same, but they did have some similarities incorperated into the movie.I don't agree with why someone would change an amazing book, such as New Moon, from it's original form; but maybe it was because of the length of the book and the length of the movie. What i mean is that, maybe it wasn't virtually possible for someone to take an 563 page chapter book and make it into a 2hr. movie. In my honest opinion I think that it is extremly important when making a movie based on a book that the two remain identical, so as not to confuse or anger the people that have read and watched both. It's important that the movie has integrity!I disagree with Kayleen, that movie makers change things so as not to have the reader watch the same thing that they read, I think that it is important for a book and a movie to be similar, otherwise don't try to "bite off" the book!I also disagree with Ian, seeing how I read the book and watched thje movie and didn't think it was a bad thing that I knew what was going to hapen. It actually made the movie and the book seem much more interesting to me because, as I read the book I thought about how this and that was going to be like when i saw the movie, and when I did finally see the movie I had a chance to see if what I predicted was going to be right or wrong.

ReplyDeleteI think that it is diffrent because in a book it may give you information about a sertain person or place. And when you see a movie you only see actions and not that much information unless it is a documentary.
I agree with you vladmir about in the book they put more information about a pacific person and then in the movie it just show what they do and say.annd also they might change the perspective of how they talk.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Vladimir.I found that if you read a book before you see the movie of the book, that if the movie is missing some kind of information (character background, setting, etc.) you will probrably understand the film more than a person who did't read the book.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with what kayleen said, because if you take something that truely happened, like Hellen Keller's life, and try to "make" it fictional you would'nt be able to do it.You cannot take something that actually happened and make it fake.
ReplyDeleteThe elements/features of the book may be the same because in the diary of a wimpy kid article it states that they animated the author's drawings in the book to put in the movie.I actually haven't read a book and saw the movie because I usually do one or the other unless i think that i have to read the book and watch the movie.Usually I think whats the point if i already saw the movie or read the book. But if I was to do both I would think What changed between the book or the movie? I think that not all movies are EXACTLY the same with every detail that is in the book because Movie makers just probably think about the most interesting parts in the book to put in the movie because those interesting parts may make the movie popular and catch the audiences that are watching. The last reason why I think that movie makers change up the movie is because the book have more details and descriptive language so the reader can visualize in their heads. I don't really think it's that important as long as they are interesting and catch the audiences. I basically agree with Vladimir when he said not all the information is in the movie unless it's a documentary and i also agree with Kayleen because they change it up to make it a bit unique and more interesting than the book.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what Sheyla was saying about, how books have more descriptive language and more details than movies do.However, I feel that if you see a movie and read the book of the movie you would be able to grasp the true meaning of why something is the way it is.For example, if you read Twilight and saw the movie you might be able to relate to the characters more and be able to get a sense of what their feeling. So, I agree with both Sheyla and Vladimir, but I feel that if you do both,(read a book and watch it's movie) you would better understand what it is your reading and watching.
ReplyDeleteThe elements/features of the book may be the same because in the diary of a wimpy kid article it states that "they only used the details that were going to attract the viewers". Also, they use some new things that might be funny. The book, and movie are similar because the movie director try to take some key characters ,and some key main events from the book so they can relate.
ReplyDeleteThey are the same because they play the same role and action.they also have the same feelings and maybe they might have the same setting.i read the book push and i went to the movie to see pershice and it was totally differernt.what made me say they are so different is that they is slag word and then in the movie it was easy to see her life better. the movie was not the say as the book. i think the movie maker change some sean. because he wanted to make people intersecting of watching movie and make people see her life better. i think that it should be different because it give you more deatails to understad it vsiuial..
ReplyDeletei agree with tekela about the movie maker change the action in the movie just because they want people to enhjoy it and understand the point they is trying to make.
ReplyDeletei kinda agree with you kayleen about the movie maker chaging the movie because they wayou to be intersecting so people understand it. then kayleen i really don't understand what you was trying to say in your first sentence of your blog.
ReplyDeletei agree with Germaine and tekela because if i wrote a book i will like my movie to be slitly defrint than the book and some people read to much into the story so you have to make a understanding of what is happening in the story.
ReplyDeleteGermaine I disagree with you that the movie, and the book are the same. I say that because all the points that you listed wasn't the same in thhe movie.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with Sheyla, and Marisol that books have more descriptive language and more details than movies do. However, you can be wrong because some movies are also educating. For example the movie named Invictus about Nelson Mandela. That movie had a lot descriptive labguage. The books about him didn't have as much descriptive language.
ReplyDeletethe elements of the book and movies are the same by having the some characters and the same places and the same things.the sertain things i would like to see where the characters: who do they look what is there attetude and what are there emotions. the places: how do thay look, how do they feel by the characters saying it, and the events that happend at the place and time. the movie was not the same as the book because: read my comment with me agree with tekela and Germaine. i think the director did not make it the exact repeca by making it more intaesting and putting new stuff in the movie so the fans could get into it. i dont like it that ipmortant but if i was in there shouse i will think yes, because if people like the book then they will love the movie and by making the movie it cost alot of $ and the more copes they make the more $ they will get.
ReplyDeleteThe features and elements of a story have to be alike because if the book their reading or the movie their watching doesn’t match then the person reading or watching would most likely get confused. it is important for features and elements to be similar because if they’re not the person reading or watching might get mad over the fact that there are few or no similarities and have read the book for no reason and get upset because what was in the story was not in the movie but in the book it might have been a really important part. I guess directors and producers do this because the book might be too long or short in length and the movie has to be at least an hour and some minutes. A movie I have seen that was based on a story was last year in sixth grade called, “bridge to terabithia". The kind of questions that popped into my head when I was watching the movie were such as "was this part in the book?" and also "why did the director not add this part if it was an important part in the book?” the book bridge to terabithia and the movie were not precisely alike but as I was watching the movie I noticed there were similarities over the main characters and parts of the story but of course the director left small details that in the book would have included with more vivid detail. I think the moviemakers changed some things for the movie for many reasons some which include the fact the story was a lot longer in length. Also the movie was more changed up because they were not going to be able to put all the details that were put in the book into the movie because then it would be too long. I think that it is important for the movie to remain identical to the novel in which they are based because if they are not identical the person watching the movie might find that they are not similar and might get confused or mad over the fact that they had done the reading in order to find the similar meaning over the movie.
ReplyDeleteThe elements of a movie and book that are same is the plot and character personalities. A movie I have seen based on a book was Diary of A Wimpy Kid. I thought they added more things in order to make it seem more interesting. In the book the main character Greg is narrarate and you feel closer to him. However in the movie it feels like there is an outside narrator and he is just a character like every one else. Any movie based on the book is never exactly like the book it was based on. Movie makers change things for the movies because they want to keep the audience attracted. Also they might want to jazz things up,rather than sticking to the lines of the books exactly. It is important for movies to remain identical to the novels they are based upon because if a person did not read the book and everything in the movie was changed they wouldn't know what the author's true message was. In Diary of a Wimpy Kid (the movie) the main character was the complete opposite of what he was in the book then we wouldn't understand his struggle to be popular. I totally think that movies and books should feel and be identitical.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Madisola, over the fact that the directors and producers might have probably not put as much details because of the time length of the movie. They left out so much good information that was in the book but not in the movie which is not really good. I think this because they try to make it entertaining while still leaving out parts that aren’t as important as the main details.
ReplyDeleteI Disagree With Kayleen because the movie makers changing things up isn’t because they think they might disappoint the viewer but for a more complex reason of the fact of time. It might be for the fact that they might need more important details. And also I don’t think the movie maker would add all those details as if to make the movie seem the same exact as the book.
ReplyDeleteThe elements/features of the book may be the same b/c in dairy of a wimpy kid the author Jeff Kinney always has the illustrations and pictuers.I think movie makers change things for a movie b/c they want the person that is looking at the movie to be more into the movie and be excited. I do think that it is important to remain identical b/c mabey a person will get confused of what is happing.
ReplyDeleteI Disagree with you Germaine b/c the movie and book is not the same. But i do agree with you on the author changing b/c he want the person that is looking at the movie to be intersed in to the movie
ReplyDeleteI agree you Ashely b/c if the person is reading the book first then look at the movie they might get confused of what's happing.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with Ashley R., because if a movie maker changes the book's details too much, what would be the point in even calling it by the same name? I feel, that if you are going to make a book into a film, you should keep it as close to the original as possible; otherwise call it a reimagening!
ReplyDeleteThe Elements and Features of the book Diary of a Wimpy Kid and the movie Wimpy Kid hits the big screen are alike because the message of the movie and the book is the same ;trying to explain the life of a middle schooler. A time when i watched a movie and read the book , The things i was thinking about while i was watching the movie was is the same events in the book going happen the same way it happen in the book ? Also i think are the main charaters going to be the same act in the book, and the same way they look the in the book. When i finshed watching the movie I though that it was not EXACTLY the same as the movie there was more detail in the book ' And in the book you can be in the persons mind Like with the person ,Knowing what there thinking; . Movie makers change things for movie to sometimes be realalistic about things or be more modern. I think its not important for movies to be identical to the book because if you make a book and a movie the reader is going to watch the movie because the person already knows what the person is thinking in side of the book
ReplyDeleteI agree with Tyshe and disagree with Germaine as well because movies and books that are the same arent really the same there is usally more detail in the book then there is in the movie . The movie is just the Book is actions and people.
ReplyDeleteI also disagree with Tekela on the first one because the movie isnt really about or talking about touch cheese its just a phrase to tell us that if we laugh at the words touch cheese we would probaboly laugh at the movie Wimpy kid hits big screen

ReplyDeleteThe elements and the features are the same because they both have the cheese touch involved in it.A time I read a book and saw the movie was in the sixth grade. The movie was called Ella Enchanted. When I first saw the beginning of the movie Ella Enchanted I wondered if the same kind of action I saw while reading will be in the end of the movie or will it be a happy ever after. The movie was not exactly the same as the book.I think movie makers change things for a movie becauseto others that left a comment for them they said the book wasn't that interesting.Sometimes i do think the book and the movie should stay identical just incase the book was so interesting and the again not because the book may not be that interesting.

ReplyDeleteKayleen i disagree with you because the author does change some things in the story because others might think it is boring and others might think you don't need to change some things because others might like it the way it is.
I agree with Ashley Rosete because they want to shorten the duration of the movie. Also I agree with her because the elements and features have to be similar so that the viewer does not get confused. I also agree with Ashley Rosete because I would get angry if what I read not match with what I saw.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Vladimir because in the movie you don't get very internal with the characters. However in the book it may be internal because you can get it from the character's point of view.
ReplyDeleteI did not read the book or see the movie, I only read the article.
ReplyDeleteThe main characters have to stay the same. They change things for the a movie because you can not put everything from the book into the movie. It would be too long to watch.
I think movies should stay like the book because they become better.
When you read the Wizard of Oz and see the movie, things are very different. The red shoes are silver. My mom told me that sliver dont look good in the movies so they used red.
I agree with AshleyR because you shold not change too much of the movie becase you wont understand it from the book. I agree with Teleka because they have to put more things in the movie so you can be interesting.
i agree with tekela because the author do change some things in the movie like the cheese touch.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Daisha and Ashley R., because I have read many books and when the movie version of the book came out and the movie directors changed things that I thought were relevant to how the story was, I get very upset. I feel that if movie directors change too much of a story to try to adapt it to the veiwers taste, that it is not having integrity to the true story or having respect for the author. I also don't understand why an author would just let all their time and hard work be trimmed away by the movie makers and editors!
ReplyDeleteI disagree with the people who said that the film makers change some details of the book so that people would be interested in the movie. I believe that if the film maker and director liked the book so much in the first place, that they would want to turn the book into a movie, that they would want to keep to the standard that the book set and not want to change anything.
ReplyDeleteI agree with ashley because no one would be that interested in the movie if they read the book and it ends up with the same details. Mostly books tell every detail to make it visual but if you are watching the movie it doesn't need that same exact detail in the book
ReplyDeleteI also agree with ahley disagreeing with Kayleen about the movie maker changing up thngs to disappoint the viewer because like the book twilight if they were to include all the details in the book that movie could probably be around 4-5 hours long
ReplyDelete
